HP DesignJet Grinding Noise and Carriage Movement Repair

Call 888-786-4720 to schedule service.

What Causes an HP DesignJet Grinding Noise?

A grinding noise may be caused by a deteriorated carriage belt, carriage obstruction, dirty encoder strip, damaged pulley, dry carriage rail, worn motor, or service-station failure.

Small pieces of rubber inside the plotter may indicate that the carriage belt is deteriorating. Continuing to operate a plotter with a damaged belt could cause additional mechanical problems.

HP DesignJet Carriage Problems

Carriage problems may prevent the plotter from completing its startup process. The carriage may move unevenly, stop on one side, strike an obstruction, or produce System Error 87:10, 86:01, or 42:10.

Our technician can inspect the carriage belt, encoder strip, carriage rail, motor, pulley, trailing cable, service station, and other related components.
